Ephesians 6:4 Blueprint – Discipling the Heart- A Hands-On Training for Christian Parents

The Ephesians 6:4 Blueprint is a framework for biblical parenting based on the command: “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord”. This blueprint shifts the parenting focus from managing outward behavior to discipling the child’s heart through steady, intentional guidance.

  • Format: Weekly 75-minute small group gatherings consisting of a 15-minute fellowship/prayer time, 30-minute lesson, 15-minute discussion group, and 15-minute prayer.
  • Core Philosophy: Discipling the Heart-Modeling God’s grace and consistent boundaries to our children (Ephesians 6:4).

You Are What You Love

You Are What You Love, based on the book You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit by James K. A. Smith.
The central idea we will explore is that Christian formation is not only about what we know, but also about what we love. Our desires, habits, and everyday practices are continually shaping who we are and what we ultimately pursue..

What will we focus on?

  • Desire and discipleship – What do we really love, want, and pursue, and how do those desires shape who we become?
  • The power of habit – How repeated practices train our hearts, often before we consciously recognize their influence.
  • Everyday “liturgies” – How culture, technology, work, entertainment, consumption, and our daily routines can shape our desires.
  • Christian practices – How worship, Scripture, prayer, community, generosity, and other spiritual rhythms can re-form our hearts toward God.
  • From insight to practice – Identifying practical habits that can help us increasingly love what God loves.

Preparing for the Class

Participants are recommended to read selected segments of the book before each class. I will provide the specific reading segments for each session. Reading beforehand will give us context for our discussions and allow us to spend more time examining how these ideas apply to our own lives.

The goal is not simply to learn new ideas. I hope we can become more aware of what is forming our hearts and learn to intentionally develop practices that direct our loves toward God and His kingdom.

Stitched In The Spirit

Objective – Community and Fellowship

Crafters work on personal or collaborative projects in a relaxed, low-pressure setting while sharing discussions and encouragement.

Class Description:
The curriculum pairs the 9 Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) with concrete yarn-craft concepts.

The Aster Women

God’s purpose for His people, to know Him, glorify Him, and faithfully live as His disciples, does not change. But the way we live out that purpose can look different in different seasons of life.
This class is about calling, learning to prayerfully recognize how God may be calling us to use the gifts, experiences, wisdom, relationships, and opportunities He has already placed in our lives.
Over six weeks, we will explore how to listen for God’s direction, how He may have used our past experiences to prepare and shape us, how to recognize what fits the season we are actually in, and how to move through fear, comparison, or perfectionism that may keep us from responding faithfully. The class is designed to give women space to slow down and ask: What might God be calling me to in this season, and how can I better recognize His direction?
This is not a class about building a business, launching a project, or creating a long-term plan. It is about listening to Scripture, to God in prayer, to the patterns and experiences of our lives, and to the wisdom of one another, so that each woman can become clearer about what faithfulness may look like for her right now.

Format:

  • In-person only – Women Only
  • Monday evenings, 7:00–8:30 PM
  • Huntington Beach – Clubhouse
  • Maximum participants: 15

Led by Robbie Miles. One of the teachers will reach out to you directly with the day, time, and location.

Unbound: Experiencing True Freedom in Christ

In the evolution of our church community culture, we’ve swung the pendulum back and forth of being a church with higher, often subjective expectations (bounded churches) to one trying to inject more grace but at the cost of watering down convictions (fuzzy churches).   Now we have members who are divided advocating both spectrums.  How can we as a church avoid the shame and judgementalism produced by bounded churches, but also bring back healthy convictions and sharpening of one another that we’ve lost?  This class will not just be about a book, one that probably has helped me personally grow in a practical way more than any other book, but it’s about transforming our entire church culture to make sure we’re doing church the right way.  Understanding this will allow us to be Unbound and Experience True Freedom in Christ.

Course Overview

  • Objective: Changing our mindset and ultimately culture of how we build church culture to focus on the center rather than the boundaries or non-boundaries.
  • Format: In Person/Zoom/Hybrid. 1st part of class teach the concepts of the book, 2nd review important principles to change our mindset, 3rd discussion on how to practically apply it.
  • Book: Centered-Set Church by Mark Bake.

Led by Dick Gee. One of the teachers will reach out to you directly with the day, time, and location.

Practicing The Sabbath

Sabbath is God’s invitation into a sacred space in time in which we cease all busyness and receive from the Devine complete renewal of body, mind and soul. But in our age of exhaustion, Sabbath is one of the most neglected of all the practices of Jesus. It can be daunting to begin, as it’s an entire 24 hours, and you’re swimming against the current of our entire culture. Powerful forces keep us tethered to our devices, distractions, and the endless queue of work and responsibilities. In this class we will not only learn about, but actually implement the four movements of Sabbath into our lives: stop, rest, delight, and worship.

Overview
Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you…and you will find rest for your souls.” In this class we will not only learn about, but actually implement the four movements of Sabbath into our lives: stop, rest, delight, and worship.

Class Description
Plan to meet on Wednesdays, in person only, beginning on September 23rd. By the end of the class our hope is that everyone has not only developed a deeper understanding of the importance, but has experienced the transformative power of a weekly implementation of Sabbath in their lives.

Led by Todd & Yolanda Dietrich. One of the teachers will reach out to you directly with the day, time, and location.

Healthy Doesn’t Have To Be Hard: Think Well. Eat Well. Live Well.

Our health affects how we live, serve, work, care for others, and enjoy the life God has given us. Yet for many people, knowing how to eat healthier or lose weight can feel confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to sustain.
Healthy Doesn’t Have to Be Hard is designed to help our church community approach health in a practical, realistic, and sustainable way. This is not simply a weight-loss class. It is for anyone who wants to lose weight or simply learn how to eat healthier, develop better habits, and feel more in control of their choices around food.
The class combines nutrition education with powerful mindset coaching, recognizing that lasting change is about more than knowing what to eat—it is also about understanding why we do what we do and learning how to change the patterns that keep us stuck.

Objective:
To equip participants with practical nutrition knowledge, mindset tools, and sustainable strategies that can help them lose weight if needed—or simply eat, think, and live healthier.

Format: In Person Only

Time/Location: Wednesdays, 7:30pm at the Gee’s house: 12824 Arabella St. Cerritos, Ca 90703

Audience: GLB Church members only
