GLB Church June Newsletter!
June is here — and we’re walking into it with faith, focus, and fire. This month isn’t just the start of summer — it’s another opportunity to stay rooted in what God is doing right now in our church and in each of our lives.
We believe prayer is powerful. It shapes our hearts, shifts atmospheres, and invites God to move in ways we can’t even imagine. Whether you’re worshiping in person, tuning in online, or praying in your living room — your prayers matter.
This month’s newsletter is packed with moments that matter: upcoming events, opportunities to serve, and ways to grow deeper in faith and community. Let’s keep our hearts open and our prayers bold — trusting that God is already at work.

Dear GLB Church Family!
The month of June brings about a season of change and transition. The end of the school year, the beginning of summer, students graduating from high school and college and graduate programs or promotions from elementary or middle schools— all of these transitions bringing about different types of feelings from joy to sadness to uncertainty to even a bit of fear for some. As a church, we ride this wave of the end of a season and beginning of a season together. We have middle schoolers who will be entering our Teen Ministry and going to Teen Camp for the first time. We have high school graduates who will be entering our AO Long Beach Campus Ministry and possibly attending their first International Campus Ministry Conference (ICMC) in July. We have young men and women who have just graduated from CSULB and will be entering a season of discernment, figuring out career steps or possible graduate programs, some entering our Young Professional (YoPro) Singles Ministry or moving to other parts of the extended spiritual family of the LA Church. It’s an exciting time. It can also be a bit of a confusing or disorienting time for those going through ministry or life stage transitions. Let’s be there for each other and be prayerful in discerning our steps.
Proverbs 16:9 says, In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. We can make all sorts of plans for our lives and for our summer months ahead, but the Lord establishes our steps. This is a short encouragement to trust God in the process, to adapt when plans we have set may change, to walk in faith through open doors and faithfully discern the doors God may have closed along the way.
This month of June is also the time of year in our church’s rhythm where we focus our attention a bit more on global missions. The GLB Church has a rich history of financial generosity that supports church workers and programs in Mexico/Central America, Middle East countries, Baltic/Nordic nations, and local work through our Spanish language ministries. Our hope and pledge to these causes is a total of $83,500. Please be praying and planning on how you can participate in this effort. Our overall goal is that EVERYONE GIVE SOMETHING. This yearly offering connects us to what God is doing around the world. There’s a lot of work for us in the Greater Long Beach area, but there are also needs around the world and this special offering is a way for us to participate in supporting efforts to proclaim Christ in other nations. Our time of celebration and giving will happen on JUNE 22nd, on our monthly “Open Hands” Sunday. The encouragement is to give an amount beyond our weekly giving rhythm. Please pray that the Spirit puts on your heart an amount to give cheerfully to these great causes. Let’s have a great June!

Operation Easter Basket
Thank you all for your Easter basket donations! GLB donated 40 baskets, which were added to a total of 2,500 baskets that were distributed all over Long Beach for children in need.
Our next big project is a our July backpack drive for foster children. Stay tuned for more details.
We also have a need for more small groups to sign up to make lunches at Christian Outreach in Action on the second Saturday of the month for the last half of the year. Please call Erica Burch 562-787-4626 for more info or organize with your group and sign up here.

We are happy to pray for your prayer requests, or have you join us to pray at our Hilltop Signal Hill prayer May 3 at 8am or our GLB Prayer Night at 7:30pm on May 28.

Scripture of the Month: Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
As we step into June—often a time of transitions, travel, and new rhythms—this verse reminds us that God is always doing something fresh and purposeful, even when we don’t see it right away. It’s a call to stay spiritually alert, to look beyond the noise, and to trust that even in uncertain or dry places, God is actively making a way.
In our church, our city, and our own hearts, we believe God is planting seeds that will grow into something powerful. June is a time to lean into that promise and expect renewal, provision, and movement. Let’s stay open, stay faithful, and look for the new thing He’s doing.
