GLB Church September 2026 Newsletter!
September marks the beginning of a new season, bringing fresh rhythms, new opportunities, and a chance to refocus on what matters most. As summer winds down and routines begin to shift, we’re reminded that God is continually working in our lives and in our church. He invites us to step into each new season with faith, purpose, and an open heart for what He has ahead.
There’s plenty happening at GLB this month, from opportunities to connect and serve to moments that bring us together as a church family. Take a few minutes to see what’s coming up and find a way to get involved. Whether you’re joining us for an event, serving in our community, or simply staying connected, we’re excited to see how God continues to move through GLB.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
—Romans 15:13 NRSV
Dear GLB Church Family,
Paul encourages the church in Rome with this statement as a blessing to the believers receiving this letter. It is a blessing that stays with us in our day as well and one that I would like to encourage GLB Church with. As we enter the fall semester and school has begun and families are back in routines of school pick-ups and drop-offs and college students are back in school, there can be a sense of anxiety about what this semester will bring. In the middle of it all, may the God of hope ‘fill you with all joy and peace’ so that you may ‘abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’
In the month of September, we will be able to hear about the different classes being offered by different people within the church for our fall semester series of “Equipping the Saints”. This program began a couple years ago with the heart of wanting to provide a platform for different teachers that had something on their heart to offer, utilizing the gifts God has given the church, as well as a way to have some intentional connection across life stage ministries in the church. This year we have 10 classes being offered. Please be attentive to the announcements on Sundays and visit our website for more information!
Also, this month provides an opportunity for GLB Church to partner with other churches in our city for a day of serving our community through the “Love Our City” initiative started by the Long Beach Church Collective. This event will be happening on September 19th and there are so many ways to serve. Jesus calls us to be a ‘light of the world’ and ‘salt of the earth’… let’s do our best to show up and participate in this opportunity to be the ‘hands and feet of Jesus’ in our community.
In our AO Long Beach campus ministry, we are excited to have Diego Vargas as a new ministry intern working with the campus ministry during his senior year at CSULB! We’re also very grateful to have Jayde Mathew continuing in her role as a ministry intern in the campus ministry and now also helping to lead the teen ministry as well. Let’s be praying for the students in all our next generation ministries and let’s also be praying for all the educators in GLB Church who are influencing and making a daily difference in the lives of so many!
Our last ‘Open Hands’ Sunday picnic will be September 27th and we will be acknowledging Hispanic Heritage Month and having some good food after our worship service. Invite a friend as we continue going through the book of Matthew as well. Much love to you all!
With love,
Ruben and Marina.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
September is a natural time to reset our rhythms and refocus our hearts. As summer comes to a close and a new season begins, this passage reminds us that following Jesus isn’t just about what we believe—it’s about how we live and how we treat the people around us.
Doing good doesn’t always feel significant in the moment. A small act of kindness, an encouraging word, showing up for someone, or giving our time to serve may seem simple, but God can use those moments to make a lasting impact. Paul reminds us not to grow tired of doing good, but to keep looking for opportunities to reflect the love of Christ wherever we are.
As we enter September, let’s be a church that doesn’t wait for perfect opportunities to make a difference. Let’s notice the needs around us, respond with generosity, and continue serving with the confidence that God is using every act of faithfulness for something greater.
Practicals for September
- Look for an opportunity to serve
Find one practical way to serve someone this month—at church, in your neighborhood, at work, or in our community. - Encourage someone intentionally
Reach out to someone who may need a little hope. Send a text, make a call, or take a few minutes to let someone know they matter. - Give your time generously
Instead of waiting until you have extra time, intentionally make room in your schedule to help someone else. - Don’t overlook the small things
A smile, a helping hand, a meal, an invitation, or simply being present can make a bigger difference than you realize. Ask God to help you recognize the opportunities right in front of you.
